Dr. Robert Thomas Pfeiffer, 90, of 1310 East Island View Drive, Warsaw, died on 10/31/2010 at 1:15 pm at Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1920 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. His parents were Charles and Mary (Marshall) Pfeiffer. He married Isobel Rarick on June 9, 1945 in San Diego, CA. He graduated from Clay Township High School and then got his Bachelors Degree from Manchester College in 1942. He was in the Navy through 1946 then attained a Masters Degree at Stanford University. Isobel and Bob moved to Warsaw while he taught for 2 years at Columbia City High School. They moved to Aurora, IL where he taught at the University, then moved to Bloomington, IN receiving his Doctorate Degree. After his Doctorate Degree, they moved to East Lansing MI where he was an Associate Professor at Michigan State. They finally settled in Kent, OH, for 30 years as Bob was the Director of Student Teaching at Kent State. After leaving from Kent State, they moved to Carrollton, GA for 6 years then retired back to Warsaw, IN for the past 11 years. He was a lifetime educator. Bobs hobbies included gardening, traveling, reading, and he was a collector of original art prints. Isobel and Bob delivered for Meals on Wheels in the community, tutored at the Literacy Center and were avid bridge players.He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Warsaw, and a member of the American Legion Post #49 Warsaw. He is survived by his wife Isobel Pfeiffer of Warsaw, sister Mary Ruth Finster of Kokomo, sister in-law Evelyn Marsh of Warsaw, 3 nieces, Debbie Plummer of Warsaw, Randa Franklin of Winona Lake, and Dawn Cluts of Virginia, 2 nephews, Greg Marsh of Portage, IN, and Kent Pfeiffer of Wolcottville, IN. Preceded in death by 1 brother John Pfeiffer and 1 brother-in-law Cleon Marsh of Warsaw.Reverend Andy Martin will officiate the services.Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, IN., with military honors by the American Legion Post #49 , and the VFW Post #1126 both of Warsaw. Services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel - Warsaw on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery - Warsaw, IN. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel - Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
