Dorothy L. Porter, 86, passed away peacefully in her Chapman Lake home on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Born in Lexington, Virginia on January 5, 1939, Dorothy was the daughter of William and Lola Bell (Smith) Vest.
On August 12, 1956 in Lexington, Dorothy married Philip L. Porter. The couple would soon move to Lansing, Illinois and welcome two boys. She worked for Econocloth as an office secretary from 1963-1990. They then made the move to their forever home on Chapman Lake in Warsaw, Indiana where she worked as a secretary for Quality Glass.
Dorothy was an outstanding wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a sincere person who loved daily doses of humor. The couple enjoyed traveling and were members of the North Winona Church of the Brethren. Dorothy enjoyed her weekly breakfasts with her church friends and liked working with the Lady Lake Lovers Association.
She is survived by her sons, William Porter of Warsaw and Jon (Susan) Porter of Lansing, IL; grandchildren: Billy Porter of Madison, WI, Shawn Porter of Lebanon, TN, Diana (Troy) Kreiger of Pewaukee, WI, Alia (Charlie) Randhan of Cedar Lake, Bryan (Jamie) Porter of Portage, Nikki (Alex) Kasher of Lowell and Tonia Edgin; her great-grandchildren: Shawn Porter and Alex Porter in Tennessee, Molly Waterstreet of Pewaukee, WI, Robbie Randham of Cedar Lake and Emily & Rebecca Kasher, both of Lowell, and Storm Edgin; and sister-in-law, Louise Vest.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Philip in 2022, her parents and her brother Thomas Vest.
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Dorothy’s life from 1-4 p.m. EDT on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
