Doris W Pettit

Doris White Pettit passed away on August 21st 2023, at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana, at the age of 94.

Doris was born at Grafton, ND, to Edgar and Lila White on March 21, 1929. She graduated from Walsh County High School and went on to major in music at Jamestown College (North Dakota) where she met her future husband, Jack Pettit. After graduation, Doris enjoyed teaching music and chorus in North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

A few years after retirement, Doris and Jack moved to Lake Havasu City in 1998. Following Jack’s passing, she moved into Grace Village in 2017 to be close to her two daughters. Doris was an active member of the PEO.

Doris is survived by her four children: Jerry of Arlington, VA; Lila of Pierceton, IN; James of McLean, VA; and Lark of Warsaw, IN. Doris is also survived by her six grandchildren, Heather, Sarah, Brett, Clint, Beth, and Cody; and six great- grandchildren, Chase, Gabriel, Luciana, Lillian, Eleanor, and Riki.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

No services will be held.

Family burial will take place at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting a memorial monetary gift payable to the Grace Village Retirement Community.
