Donald E. Chilcote, 92 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 3:20 pm Monday, October 24, 2016 in Lakeland Rehabilitation Center, Milford. On September 30, 1924, he was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Eber and Almeda (Prough) Chilcote. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Worthman on June 1, 1946 in Fort Wayne, who preceded him in death on December 3, 1987. He then was united in marriage to Patricia A. Graham on November 25, 1988 in Pierceton, Indiana who preceded him in death on December 18, 2009 Don graduated from Elmhurst High School, Class of 1942 and then graduated from International College, Fort Wayne, Class of 1946 and then took his Army Training at the University of Oregon. He served our country in the U.S. Army, 31st Infantry Division during World War II in the South Pacific Theater, Philippines and was also INR Section of Intelligence and Reconnaissance. Don worked as a field auditor for Farm Bureau for thirteen years and then worked as a controller for Sun Metal, Warsaw for fourteen years. He then worked as a business manager and publisher for Light and Life Press, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Pierceton United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Morning Optimist Club, American Legion Post #49, Warsaw and the Alternative Living Center Advisory Board. He was the treasurer for Pierceton United Methodist Church until 2015 and a tutor for Kosciusko County Literacy Society and a volunteer at the Billy Sunday Museum. He is survived by two daughters, Tonya (and spouse Cary) Holman, Greenville, Illinois and Terri (and spouse Butch) Ritter, Syracuse, a step - daughter, Sue (and spouse Ron) Pence, South Whitley; a step - son, Bill Graham, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, two step - grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren and five nephews and nieces. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” Chilcote, nephew, John Chilcote and a great grandson, Trace Ritter. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 28, 2016 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Holly White and Pastor David Arnold officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126, Warsaw and the Military Funeral Honors Guard. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2016 and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Kosciusko County Literacy Society, 121 North Indiana Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
