Deloris Ann 'Dee' Rose

Deloris Ann “Dee” Rose, 72 of Claypool, Indiana passed away at 1:00 pm Sunday, October 12, 2014 in her residence. On April 6, 1942, she was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Newton Perry and Betty (Hall) Wallen. She was united in marriage to Joe L. Rose on May 28, 1960 in Clintwood, Virginia, who survives. Deloris graduated from Sidney High School, Sidney, Indiana and also studied Industrial Supervision at Ivy Tech Community College, Warsaw. She was involved in many activities including being a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a troop leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts and president of the Warsaw Bowling Club. She was past president of American Legion Post #258 Women's Auxiliary, Pierceton and a member of the Past Presidents' Parly American Legion; VFW Post #1126 Women's Auxiliary, Warsaw; Moose Lodge, North Manchester; Women's Color Guard and American Legion. She was also a delegate to the Second District Convention for the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Deloris was a volunteer for the V.A. Hospital and Cardinal Center, as well as a volunteer English tutor and volunteer Blue Print Reading Instructor for Flexsteel, Inc., New Paris. She was a co-chair and fundraising director for the Kosciusko County War Memorial Project and a committee member for Warsaw Community Schools Gifted and Talented Program. She worked for Kimble Glass, Warsaw in Quality Control and then was a supervisor for Cardinal Center, Warsaw. She then worked for Flexsteel, Inc., New Paris in Quality Control until she retired in 2002. Deloris loved to read, bowl, play bingo and golf. She is survived by her husband of fifty four years, Joe L. Rose, Claypool; five children, Kimberly (and spouse Michael) Whitaker, North Manchester, Debra (and spouse Douglas) Drudge, Claypool, Joe L. Rose Jr., Claypool, Lisa (and spouse Christopher) Pett, Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Lori (and spouse Bret) Stanger, Winona Lake. Deloris is also survived by six sisters, Barbara Miller, Mentone, Josephine (and spouse Clifford) Clevenger, Pierceton, Laura Ellen Wallen, Warsaw, Betty June McCord, Leesburg, Braska (and spouse Billy) Rose, Warsaw and Tammy (and spouse Rex) Allen, Warsaw; two brothers, Woodrow Wallen, Columbia City and William (and spouse Lori) Wallen, South Whitley; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jack and Ernie Wallen and her sister, Donna Crum. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, October 16, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Abe Hepler officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Visitation hours will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in the funeral chapel. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
