Debora Jo “Debbie” Shoemaker, 61 of Leesburg, Indiana passed away Tuesday January 26, 2016 at 9:33 a.m. in her residence. She was born on January 14, 1955 to Willis Eugene and Sara (Stutzman) Berkey in Pigeon, Michigan. She grew up in Warsaw then moving around the country, returning back to Leesburg in 2007 after she retired from Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona. Being a lab tech was her passion in life. She was married to Kim Shoemaker for over 15 years. She was a laboratory Technician for multiple hospitals though out the country. Debbie was a 5 years lung transplant survivor. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their games and she always liked keeping score. Debbie enjoyed rock climbing, hiking, gardening, dancing, singing, nature and animals, especially her dog “Zoey”. She is survived by her mother Sara Berkey of Bourbon, Indiana; 3 brothers Steve Berkey of Elkhart, Indiana, Royce Berkey of Corlane, Idaho and Kurt (and spouse Tricia) Brandon of Bourbon, Indiana; a son Justin (and spouse Ellen) Shoemaker of Leesburg, Indiana and a daughter Jessica Shoemaker and her fiancé, Robert Fuzi of Archbold, Ohio; her grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Shoemaker, Morgan, Kayla and Tyler Perry; Step grandchildren, Elizabeth and Derreck Davis and Makayla Fuzi. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She is preceded by her father, Willis, a step mother, Marie Berkey and a step farther Richard Harris. There will be a visitation with family and friends on Saturday January 30, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana.
