Dean Adkins, 66, Pierceton, passed away at 8:50am Friday, Jan9, 2015 At Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, IN. Born Dec 16, 1948 to Randall Adkins and Lexie (Conn) Adkins in Martin, KY. On May 29, 1976 he married Paula Sue Bailey in Lima OH who survives in Pierceton He leaves behind 6 children Paula Moore (John), Winona Lake,Bobbi Deane Martin, Pierceton, Paul Dean Adkins Jr (Celina), Pierceton, Kenneth Lee Lasley, Elkhart, Sheila Yohe (Ed), South Whitley, Daniel Dean Adkins (Monica), Pierceton Also. Surviving is, his mother, Lexie Stephens. His 15 siblings include Ronnie Stephens, Don (Dian) Adkins, Evelyn “Cookie” (Bill) Bryant, Faye Campbell, Danny (Vickie) Adkins, Gary (Cecelia) Adkins, Debra (Terry) Thompson, Rita (Kenny) Elder, Robert “Jr” (Melanie) Stephens, Tena (Brooks) Huffer, Lena (Joe) Ball, Joe Stephens, Belva Stephens, and an inducted brother Sam (Judy)Lambert. He was preceded in death by his father Randall Adkins, his step father Robert Stephens, his sister Onda Baker, and his brother Ray Stephens. Dean was Grandpa to his 10 grandchildren, Mia, Kierstan, Madeline, Brady, Paige, Anika, Seth, Nick, Micah, and Judea. He was a loving husband of 38 years and a wonderful father. Loved by so many, he was a son, a brother, an uncle to 142 (yes, you read it right, 142) a godparent to Caleb Divine and Molly Whisman, a Marine, and a friend to so many. He was owner/operator of Dean’s Tree Service. He began tree trimming at age 16 and has worked within our community for so many people over the years. Our large family has been so touched by the outpouring of love and encouragement since his home going. We are overwhelmed by how many lives he touched. We appreciate all the support and kind words so freely given. We have read multiple social media posts that say “Rest in peace, Dean.” As a family, to him we say “Rest in joy, loved one. Rest in JOY with your Savior!” Visitation hours are scheduled from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 13 , 2015 at Living Hope Ministries 595 E. 350 North, Warsaw, IN. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, at 10:00 AM at the Church. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate the services. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, IN.
