David L. Sisk Sr., 76, peacefully passed away in his home on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Lifetime area resident, David was born in Warsaw, Indiana on February 18, 1948 to Donald R. and Marcel E. (Duer) Sisk. He played football at Warsaw High School and his talent could have had him play at Indiana State University. But after graduation he had other plans.
David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as well as being stationed at various bases overseas, and was Honorably Discharged in 1972. He was a member of the Warsaw American Legion Post #49 and a former Commander.
He worked as a supervisor in shipping for Zimmer for 26 years until his retirement.
David was a stern and strict military father to his two children, but was also full of love and laughs. He coached youth sports, and pee wee football and semi-pro football for the Mustangs. He was a loner a lot of the time, until his buddies would call him up to go fishing or hunting. David never moved so fast! He loved being outdoors with his friends and family, and many trips were to Minnesota.
He was a huge Notre Dame Football fan and followed the Chicago Bears. He loved muscle cars and owned many show cars. David was an awesome cook. He had great relationships with the local Amish, and would watch them play games in his yard and spend quality time with them. They also spoiled him with their homemade food and delicious desserts.
David is survived by his daughter, Tammy Hile of Roseville, MI, and his son, David L. Sisk Jr., of Leesburg; he was the greatest supporter to his grandson, Kameron Hile; and his extended Amish family and neighbors for over 35 years, Omar and Karen Mullet and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jim and Susie.
Graveside services will be held at a later date with Military Honors.
