David Karl Amburgey

Aug 30, 1942 — Apr 17, 2026

Elkhart

On April 17, 2026, David Karl Amburgey left his earthly home to join his dearly loved mother in Heaven.

David was a beloved father and grandfather. He was his daughter’s greatest champion—always helping, always encouraging, and always supporting his daughter and grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events.

David was born on August 30, 1942 and was a devoted son to his mother, Doris Amburgey. He recently said how much he missed her, and now they are reunited for eternity.

David’s wit and intelligence made him a favorite everywhere he went. His friends were very important to him. He had a heart for helping others and a special love for all of God’s creatures. He worked alongside his family rescuing dogs and adored his beloved dog, Lucky.

A self-made businessman, David had remarkable vision, foresight, and an exceptional ability to build successful businesses. He served as General Manager of Travel Craft, co-owned Otto Coach, and owned A&E Motors.

David enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including piloting a plane, golfing, playing cards, and reading a novel in a day.

His family has lost their greatest champion and will miss him deeply until they are reunited in Heaven.

The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life at Bethel Assembly of God, 600 E. Bristol St., Elkhart, Indiana, on July 9 at 5:00 p.m. A dinner will follow, and all are welcome.

He was laid to rest in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, Indiana.
