Dave B. Fulkerson, age 78, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at 9:41 in Warsaw. He was born September 25, 1938 in Owensboro, KY to Walter Douglas Fulkerson and Mary Helen Walden. He was Warsaw resident since 1982 and is formerly of Columbia City and Fort Wayne. He was united in marriage in Wabash on June 9, 1972 to Eugenia Nixon until 1999. He served as Athletic Director for Warsaw Community Schools from 1982 to 2009. In his tenure, as Athletic Director he Warsaw Schools built a strong athletic program attaining numerous awards and State Championships in various sports. Furthermore, he was an active participant and supporter of all Warsaw school students taking a sincere interest in their personal and educational development. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Evansville with a B.S. degree in Secondary Education. Post-graduation he continued as a basketball recruiter for Evansville and was member when the school won the NCAA Division Three Championship. Also, he graduated from St. Francis College with a Master’s degree in School Administration in 1981.He was a Physical Education Teacher for the Windsor, IL schools, White’s Institute, Wabash Schools, St. Francis College, and Columbia City. During his career, he coached Basketball, Baseball, served as Pool Director and Athletic Director. Survivors include a son Dr. Daniel (spouse Amy) Fulkerson, MD of Zionsville, daughter Jodi (spouse Ace) Ramirez of Zionsville, grandchildren Emma, Daniel, Noah, Luke and Leah Fulkerson, Alex Fulkerson and David Goad, and a sister Connie (Fulkerson) Morris of Shorewood, IN. He was preceded by his foster parents John and Maxine Peebles, brothers Ronnie Peebles and John Roach and a sister Shirley Roach. Visitation hours are scheduled from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2017 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the Performing Arts Center of Warsaw Community High School with calling one hour prior to the service.
