Darlene R. Carlile, 78 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 6:45 pm, Monday, August 20, 2012 in Millers Merry Manor, Syracuse. The daughter of Buena Vista Walters, Darlene was born on May 18, 1934 in Flintstone, Maryland. She moved to Warsaw from Fort Wayne in 1977. On November 5, 1977, she married Roy W. Carlile in Warsaw, whom preceded her in death on September 24, 2007. Darlene graduated from Flintstone High School in 1952. She honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952- 1953. She worked for BB Shoe Store, Hallmark Store and then retired from Sofamor Danek on April 11th, 1997. She was Past Commander and Chaplain of American Legion Post #49 Warsaw and was a member of the VFW Post #1126, Warsaw. Darlene is survived by two sons, Mike (and spouse Kathy) Jenkins,, Lee's Summit, Missouri and David (and spouse Vanessa) Jenkins, Decatur; two daughters, Sharon (and spouse David) Poe, Pierceton and Lea Ann Tice, Atlantic Beach, Florida; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Hoffer and four grandchildren, Kyle Griffin, Grace Poe, Patrick Jenkins and SSG. Phillip Jenkins. A funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 25, 2012 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Chaplain Tom Everett officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126. Visitation hours will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, August 24, 2012 at the funeral chapel. The family has requested memorial contributions are to be made to Shriner's Childrens Hospital, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60707.
