Chester Scott Zorn, 95, of Pierceton, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
Chet was born November 2, 1926 near Warsaw, the son of (the late) John C. and Myrtle (Wolfe) Zorn. He attended Pierceton High School and went on to serve his country proudly in the US Army during WWII, from 1944 until 1946 in the Pacific Theatre, where he was awarded medals for the Philippine Liberation and the Occupation of Japan.
On October 26, 1946, Chet married Viola A. (Jones) Zorn; she preceded him in death on August 25, 2014 after 67 years of marriage. Chester formerly worked for Perry Machinery in Pierceton and later for Arnolt Corp. where he retired as a machinist supervisor. He was a member of Warsaw Church of God, Past-Commander at the VFW James Sittler Post 1126, where served on the Color Guard and was Past-Commander of the American Legion Menzie-Reece Post 258, where he served on the Honor Guard; he also served a six-year term as District Commander for the Sons of the VFW. Chet loved the time he spent with family & friends, and he enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Tom) Swartz of Atwood, Kathy (Pat) Stevens of Warsaw and Kimberly (Nick) Heinold of Pierceton; sons, Chester (Karen) Zorn of Leesburg and Randy (Jeannie) Zorn of Kimmell; grandchildren, Steven (Deea) Breeden, Brian (Christina) Breeden, Glen (Penny) Zorn, Kristi (Craig) Brown and Matthew (Steph) Stevens, all of Warsaw, Jennifer (Tony) Hutchens and Kari (Thad) Horton, both of Houston TX, Tina (John) Anderson and Randall “Andy” (Miranda) Zorn, both of Leesburg, Albert Zorn in South Carolina, Tyler Campbell of Ligonier, James (Dani) Stevens II of Woodville TX, Kristopher Heinold and Derek (Courtney) Heinold, both of Pierceton, Nicholas (Mary) Heinold of South Whitley; 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife Viola, Chet was also preceded in death by sons, John Zorn and Richard Zorn; sisters, Ester, Blanch, Georgia and Wilma; brothers, Jack and Eugene; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Funeral Services 1:00 Monday October 3, 2022 at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Ct. with Rev. Jerry Yoder officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00-1:00. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors. The family’s preferred memorial is the Lewy Body Dementia Association, online at www.lbda.org, or by mail at 912 Killian Hill Rd. SW, Lilburn GA 30047.
