Carla Cone Freel

Carla Cone Freel, 57 of Columbia City, Indiana passed away at 4:15 pm Monday, January 5, 2015 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. On November 29, 1957, she was born in Columbia City, Indiana to Charles and Elizabeth “Betty” (Hamsher) Cone. She was raised in Pierceton but lived most of her life in Whitley County, Indiana. She was a graduate of Whitko High School, Class of 1976. Carla worked for Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, Fort Wayne and also worked part time from home for International Wood as a bookkeeper. She loved working outside and landscaping. Carla also was a big sports fan, including football and Duke University basketball, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Carla is survived by her daughter, Shilo (and spouse Josh) Wearley, Simpsonville, South Carolina; her son, Gavin (and spouse Vanessa) Freel, Salem, Indiana; her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Cone, Columbia City; three brothers, Dana Cone, Syracuse, Kent Cone, Pierceton and Todd Cone, Pierceton. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Cone, her son, Evan Freel and her brother, Garth Cone. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 9, 2015 in Pierceton Presbyterian Church with Reverend Will Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2015 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.
