Bonieta Mae (Bonnie) Polston Andrew, 71, of Winona Lake, Indiana was called home to the Lord in the early morning of November 9, 2023 at Grace Village, her home for the last 14 years.
Bonnie was born December 10th, 1951 to Porter and Yolanda Polston in Peoria, Illinois. They moved to Winona Lake, Indiana in 1952. In 1966 the family relocated to Little Chapman Lake. Bonnie graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1970 and from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1973.
Bonnie taught part time for the Ivy Tech Warsaw Campus from 1983 – 2003. During her tenure she
was responsible for the development and received state approval for the first “teaching patient
care lab” to be used for multiple medical programs at the college.
During this time Bonnie was honored to serve on the state committee for re-writing the State
Qualified Medication Aide Program manual for State Long Term Care Facilities. From 1990 – 1995
she served with the Indiana State Department of Health – Long Term Care Division.
Her family and grandchildren were the light of her life and made her heart and soul sing. Being a mother and grandmother were her greatest earthly gifts. She loved her Heavenly Father and was a prayer warrior for many through the years. She was a long-time attendee of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons Barry (Joye) Andrew, Ryan (Jaimi) Andrew of Warsaw, Indiana, and Darrin Andrew, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren Tate, Reid, Max, Ben, Lucy, Kaden, Leah and Lainey Andrew, all of Warsaw, Indiana. Also surviving is her brother, Randy (Rachael) Polston, sister Connie (Fred) Jetter, and sister-in-law, Mary Polston along with many nieces and nephews who she adored dearly.
