Billy Ray Harper, age 65, of Claypool, Indiana passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 9:38 PM in his residence. He was born on May 10, 1954 in West Liberty, Kentucky to Carl and Linda (Smith) Harper. On July 4, 1980 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Durham in West Liberty, Kentucky. He had lived in Kosciusko County for the last 6 years of his life and had previously traveled the world during his military service. Billy Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army for 16 years; during which time he reached the position of E-7 and was also awarded two Bronze Stars. He was a Persian Gulf War Veteran. After his military service he worked in the concrete business and was the plant foreman where he worked. He was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. More than anything, he loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife; Cynthia Harper of Claypool, IN, daughters; Amy (spouse Shane) Harper Hawk of Claypool, Amanda (spouse Chris) Harper Soh of Katy, TX, 5 grandchildren, 2 brothers, 1 sister-in-law, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. Pastor Bob Jarboe will officiate the services and interment will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
