Billy E. Smith

Billy Edward Smith, 90, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 4:20 a.m. in Warsaw. He was born on March 17, 1929 to Ernest and Dorothy (Meeks) Smith in South Bend. IN. He was united in marriage on April 4, 1955 to Lucy Baublit in Angola, IN. Billy was a graduate of Pierceton High School. He was a bridge and building inspector retiring after 43 years of service for Conrail Railroad. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pierceton. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucy (Baublit) Smith, sons; Mark (Patty) Smith, Tim (Paula) Smith, both of Pierceton, Billy (Chrissy) Smith of Warsaw, sisters; Betty Wilcoxson of Pierceton, Peggy Chapman of Virginia, Jackie Scott of Fidler, Idaho, Joan Downing of Columbia City. In addition, he is survived by 7 grandchildren; Jeffrey, Brian, Kurtis, Kaitalyn, Matthew, Lori, and Katie and, 6 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son; Richard Smith of Pierceton, 1 sister; Margorie Tennant of Warsaw, and 1brother; Ernie “Pete” Smith of Warsaw. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Pierceton with Pastor Mark Fishburn officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at the Church from 1:00 -3:30 p.m. Interment will be private. All arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
