Betty D. Kratzsch

October 8, 1929 — December 4, 2020

Betty D. Kratzsch, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 91 years old.  She was a long-time resident of Warsaw, IN and retired to Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake where she resided the past 2 years.  Betty was born October 8, 1929 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Herman and Elizabeth (Kuntzman) Wehrwein and was united in marriage to Hal Kratzsch in 1948 and had 3 sons, Nate, Nick, and Kurt.  Hal was a founding member of the Jazz group, The Four Freshman.  Betty loved sharing her many stories of living on the road and the role of a traveling musicians wife.  She was proud to  honor Hal and the group at many Four Freshman conventions through the years and valued the many relationships she developed. Betty loved Jesus!  And she loved her family and friends.  She was a strong, resilient woman, a good cook, and a loyal friend.  Betty had an appreciation for dancing, music, fashion, makeup, and a good bargain which she was proud to share a good deal when she found one.  She often pointed out the beauty of nature and the good in others.  She was a beautiful example of love and generosity. Betty is survived by son, Kurt (Karen) Kratzsch, Warsaw, IN; grandchildren; Chelsy (Sean) Daugherty, Ashland, OH; Ginger (Ray) Pumphrey, Texas; Megan, Jacob, Derek and Sarah Kratzsch all of Warsaw and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Hal Kratzsch and sons, Nate Kratzsch, and Nick (Jan) Kratzsch. The family plans to hold a celebration of her life at a later date when travel and gathering is safe and more comfortable.  McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted to all arrangements for the family.
