Bertha (Richardson) Haywood, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 1:52 AM in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born August 27, 1930 in London, OH. the sixth child of Elza and Lillie (Whitaker) Richardson. On September 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Calvin Haywood, the son of Jobe and Grace Haywood of Prestonsburg, KY. Calvin preceded Bertha on June 24, 1997 after serving as a Baptist Deacon for over 20 years. She was Kosciusko County, IN resident for 68 years. She was formerly employed by Pletchers Food Market of Pierceton, Peabody retirement Home of North Manchester, R.R. Donnelleys And Sons of Warsaw and was longtime homemaker. She is a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Claypool, IN, and former member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Silver Lake, and the Freewill Baptist Church of Columbia City, IN. In addition, she was a lifetime member of Monroe Hilltoppers Home Extension Club serving as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of Camp Elco, which was held at Camp Mack, Milford, IN. Furthermore, she served as a leader for both the Girl Scouts and 4-H and as Vice-President for the Kosciusko County Home Extension Clubs. She and Calvin, along with her children, traveled and sang for the Lord for over twenty years with the Cal Haywood Family Country Gospel Singers. After Calvins home going, she and her family have continued singing the Gospel. Survivors include Judy (spouse Jim) Swanson of Columbia City, IN, Rita (spouse Steve) Conley of Claypool, In, Deborah (spouse Jimmie) Adams of Claypool, In, Robert Bob (spouse Brenda) Haywood of Claypool, IN; a sister Pearl England of Claypool, IN; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. Her husband, 2 brother and 4 sisters preceded her. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 25, 2015 at First Freewill Baptist Church, 58 West 700 South, Claypool, IN from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Terry Bradford will officiate the service with interment in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, IN.
