Berniece Mayhugh

Berniece Mayhugh, 89 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 6:45 am Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in her residence. On January 12, 1925, she was born in Floyd County, Kentucky to Riley and Dona Shepherd. She was united in marriage to Richard K. Mayhugh on December 20, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2010. Berniece moved to Kosciusko County where she lived most of her life. She worked for Gatke Inc. and Dalite Screen, Warsaw and attended New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, Warsaw. Most days, she could be found in her kitchen cooking, baking or making root beer floats or sitting in her rocker, quilting. Her life’s pursuit was of giving the best of what she had to others. She will be remembered for her love of God, family and friends and her zest for life. Berniece is survived by her daughter, Connie (and spouse Garry) Himes, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Bethany (and spouse James) Weddell, Noblesville and Matthew (and spouse Rachelle) Himes, Warsaw; five great grandchildren, Alexis, Morgan and Nolan Himes all of Warsaw and Alexander and Katelyn Weddell, both of Noblesville and three sisters, Allie Hicks, Sebring, Florida, Mary (and spouse Dan) Murphy, Greeley, Colorado and Fanny (and spouse Robert) Cozzi, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Odis Shepherd, Bill Shepherd, Malcome Shepherd, Virgil Shepherd and two sisters, Nearie Smith and Maudie Shepherd. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday, February 24, 2014 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor David Cripe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions are to be made to New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, P.O.
