Avanell Borders

Avanell Borders, 83 of Pierceton went to be with the Lord on Saturday November 11, 2023. Her last days were spent in Hospice care and surrounded by family whom she loved and she was loved by dearly.

Avanell “Ava” was born on April 24, 1940 in Charlottesville, Indiana. She was the daughter of Carl and Virginia (Butcher) Borders. Her family eventually settled in Warsaw, Indiana where she attended school graduating from Warsaw High School in 1958.

The following summer she married Floyd “Jim” Borders. On December 21, 1959 she gave birth to their only child, James.

Besides being a homemaker, wife and mother, she worked outside the home for many years at the Bluebell factory, R. R. Donnelley and Sons, cleaning houses and Chematics, before retiring. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, macrame, golf and square dancing. For many years she attended West Etna Community Church.

Ava is survived by her son James and his wife Vicky, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She will be reunited in heaven with her parents Carl and Virginia, Husband Floyd as well as one brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 10-12 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 105 S. First Street, Pierceton. Funeral services will immediately follow at noon in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
