Augustin William Mazura, 38, of South Whitley, better known as Augie or Gus to many, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

Born on June 7, 1988, in Palos, Illinois, he was the son of William “Bill” J. and Tammi (Oberg) Mazura. Homeschooled by his mom and graduating from 12 grade, he was in boy scouts all the way to an Eagle Scout. He loved demolition derby car racing with his sister Audrey. Augie would attend a trade school in Wisconsin for Heavy Duty Equipment and attended Ivy Tech Community College for small engine repair.

Addicted to hard work, Augie would work for Hull Trucking in South Whitley and most recently as a semitruck driver for S & B Kessler, and Go for the Gusto, which was his business.

An engine lover of all things mechanical, Augie worked on antique cars, semis, farm equipment, tractors and hit & miss engines. He enjoyed riding his John Deere tractor and exploring all things about trains. He could always be found outside, enjoying the farm fields around him and was an animal lover, opossums in particular.

Augie is survived by his mother; Tammi Mazura of South Whitley and his sister; Audrey (Mazura) Tackett of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his father William in 2009 and uncle Joe Mazura.

Visitation for Augie will be held on Friday July 17, 2026, from 5-7 pm at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 105 First Street, Pierceton, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Doug Lemon officiating. Burial will be private.
