Allen R Lowry

Allen R. Lowry, 74, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the care of his family. He was a true, strong American Soldier and proudly served for our country in the U.S. Army.

Allen was born in Warsaw, Indiana on March 17, 1950 to Harold “Pat” and June (Baker) Lowry. His siblings and he would grow up in Palestine, Indiana. As a young boy, he would use his pony to deliver newspapers, making the front-page paper a couple times because of it.

He attended Tippecanoe Valley Schools but dropped out when he was drafted by the U.S. Army, where he honorably served as a warrior during the Vietnam War. He was known to many of his comrades as “Pepsi Man”.

Allen married Judy Lyn Schue on July 12, 1970, spending 53 years together. His military background gave him a strong work ethic and he instilled into his children and grandchildren upbringing the same ethic and to always do things right the first time. He was quite the character and loved playing practical jokes. He was full of love but always very straight forward.

He worked for Dalton’s Foundry until his retirement and served in the Army National Guard for many years. Allen was affectionately known as “Alfie” by his family and close friends. He loved all his grandkids and took very much pride in them and their accomplishments. He would often be found watching M.A.S.H., Pawn Stars, Swamp People, Judge Judy, COPS and American Pickers. Allen liked motorcycles and guns, and taught his family safety with guns and how to roll over go-karts. He enjoyed mowing and going to auctions. His biggest yearly joy was going down to Kokomo, Indiana, for the HC Veterans Reunion in his motorhome, and spending time and sharing memories with his fellow brothers.

Allen is survived by his son Mike Lowry of Warsaw and daughter Wendy (Melvin) Heeter of Rochester; grandchildren Christina Wagoner, James Harrell, Ryan (Beth) Wagoner, Damien Heeter, Alexis Heeter, Cameron Christian, and Chevel Heeter; great-grandchildren Braxton Thomas, Victoria Carnegie and Maylee Watkins; caregiver Jaylin Foreman; and his siblings: Rick Lowry, Karen Lowry and Sandy Snell.

He was preceded in passing by his wife Judy in November 2023; both parents; grandson Andrew Wagoner; great-grandson LeRoy Tackett; and siblings: Patty, David, Darlene and Wilma.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Private family burial, alongside his wife, will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
