Velma Lorene Ellison1924 – 2012Velma Lorene “Mama” Ellison, age 88, of Mobile, AL died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Mason's HealthCare in Warsaw, IN. She was born on February 24, 1924, in Clanton, AL, the daughter of Christopher D.and Dochie Evelyn Johnson (Connell). On December 24, 1941 she married Wallace R. “Bill” Ellison who passed away on March 31, 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prichard, AL, which later became College Park Baptist Church in Saraland, AL. She has worshiped at Mason's HealthCare Chapel for the past three-and-a-half years. Lorene was a stay-at-home mother who loved her family. She loved fashion, make-up, and looking classy. She loved shopping, and taking walks. She sang in the church choir for forty years, and taught Sunday School. She was a Southern-Style Cook, enjoyed her flower garden, and her family of pets. Survivors include: Son – Wallace R. “Richard” (Jane) Ellison, Santa Barbara, CA, Daughter, - Judy Ellison (Rev. Dennis) Bollenbacher, Pierceton, IN. Grandchildren: Jon C. (Dana) Bozeman, Robertsdale, Al, Marena L. (Gary) Atkins. Lorene was blessed with five Great-Grandchildren Olivia C. Bozeman, Lauren M. Bozeman, Caisson R. Bozeman all of Robertsdale, AL and Maya J. Atkins, Molly J. Atkins of Leesburg, IN. She was preceded in death by her Father - Christopher C. Johnson, Mother – Dochie Evelyn Johnson (Connell), Husband – Wallace R. “Bill” Ellison, Sisters Alene Jones and Maybell Johnson. Arrangements are being handled by McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw, IN. Visitation will be Saturday, May 12 from Noon – 2:00 pm at the church.A Memorial Celebration at New Beginnings Church will be at 2:00 pm with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher and Lay-Leader Jerry Byrd officiating. New Beginnings Church is located at 208 E. Main Street in Atwood, IN. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile, AL. at a later Date. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
