March 30, 1949 — February 2, 2024

Terry Dean McKinney, 74, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at his home.

Terry was born March 30, 1949 in Warsaw, Indiana the son of the late Norman and Helen (Neer) McKinney.

He enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country from 1969-1971, stationed in Korea. When returning to the area he found enjoyment in motorcycles, fishing, (coon) hunting and much more. He could be found on the porch with a cup of coffee, or on a stool at the American Legion where he was a long-time member. He was also involved in the United Kennel Club and American Kennel Club where he raised, trained, and hunted with his dogs. Many of which were World Champions.

Terry was a long-time resident of Pierceton and the Barbee Lake area prior to moving to South Bend. He served the local area as a locksmith for many years, as well as a machinist at Biomet for 30 plus years until his retirement. He was known to treat everyone like a friend, and he never met a stranger. He loved to laugh, share stories, and enjoy his life journey. Terry was a great man and will be missed by all.

Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila (Mooney) McKinney of South Bend; brother Norm “Junior” (Mary) McKinney of Warsaw, sons, Troy (Janice) Byrer of Warsaw, Larry McKinney of Atwood, Jason (Jennifer) McKinney of Mentone, Timothy Lane of Indianapolis, Justin (Nicole) Lane of Chicago, IL and Daniel Lane of South Bend.
