Taggett “Tage” Allen, 80 of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away at 9:40 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2011 in his residence. On April 9, 1931, Taggett was born to Melvin and Lora (Wright) Allen in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He lived most of his life in Warsaw. He attended Ohio College, studying Chemistry before joining the U.S. Army in 1948. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he was a Prisoner of War for 44 months. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He eventually retired from the Army and was honorably discharged. Taggett then worked for Dalton Foundry from 1963 - 1980. He was an Ex P.O.W., receiving many medals. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. He was also a former member of the Eagles Lodge and the D.A.V. He is survived by 2 sons, Mark (and spouse Missy) Allen, Warsaw and Mike Wills, Paintsville, Kentucky; 11 Grandchildren and 4 great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 - 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the funeral chapel. The family requests memorial contributions are to be made to the Taggett Allen Memorial Fund, C/o Mark Allen.
