Shawnee LaKay Elder, 32 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 8:02 pm Thursday, September 18, 2014 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. On February 24, 1982, she was born in Warsaw to Richard and Glenda (Elder) Mattern. Shawnee was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. She was a homemaker and a stay at home mom, who loved spending time with her children, nephews, nieces and friends. She loved taking care of people, especially her family and was a very giving person. She also enjoyed watching her grandpa play shuffleboard. She loved driving around and lived life to the fullest. She was a member of the American Legion Post #258 Ladies Auxiliary, Pierceton. Shawnee was survived by her son, Richard Michael Honeycutt, Warsaw; her daughter, Dezarae LaKay Elder, Warsaw; her parents, Richard and Glenda Mattern, Warsaw; her sister, Jackie Renee (and spouse Seth) Callaway, North Manchester; her brother, Dustin Wayne (and spouse Martha) Baldridge, Warsaw; her maternal grandmother, Sandra Kay Elder, Warsaw; paternal grandparents, Jim and Nancy Rogers, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven aunts and uncles and several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Glen Elder and grandparents, A.J. and Eva Marie Baldridge. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 18, 2014 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shawnee Elder Funeral Fund C/o McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
