Robert E. Rhoades age 84, passed away in his residence on Sunday August 11th, 2013 at 10:22 am in Warsaw. On August 30th, 1928 Robert was born to Artie and Florence (Linn) Rhoades in Warsaw, IN. He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, IN and lived for ten years in Sarasota, Fl. On November 9th, 1951 he married Barbara Wallace in Leesburg, IN, she survives. Robert enjoyed wood working and building crafts, outdoors fishing and hunting, and collecting old buttons, making button boards. Robert enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre along with reading old westerns. Many will remember Robert as a regular at Breading’s Cigar Store and one of the famous Dominos champions at Breading’s. Robert was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great – grandfather. Robert worked at Big Boy Products for ten years and drove School Bus for Warsaw Community Schools and worked at Schrader’s Automotive for nineteen years. Robert served his country in the Indiana National Guard, retiring as a Captain. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw, and the Elks Lodge of Warsaw. Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Rhoades, Warsaw, IN; a son Todd Rhoades of Winona Lake, IN; a daughter Teresa Rhoades of Warsaw, IN; two granddaughters Jenna (spouse Eric) DeFord, Warsaw, IN and Sara Spear, Warsaw, IN; two great – grandchildren, Braxton and Zach DeFord, Warsaw, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by a sister Betty Dunwell and two brothers Jack Rhoades and Bill Rhoades. Graveside funeral services for Robert will be held on Saturday, August 17th, 2013 at 11:00am at Oakwood Cemetery, Legion Circle with Military Honors by American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126, Warsaw. Chaplain Bob Jarboe will be officiating the service. Family has asked for memorials to be made to the Kosciusko County Homecare and Hospice, PO Box 1196, Warsaw, IN. 46581-1196. McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
