Richard J. Camden, 83 of Pierceton, Indiana passed away at 7:30 am Monday, January 30, 2017 in his residence. On June 2, 1933, he was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to John Tolliver and Mary Lucille (Burton) Camden. He was united in marriage to Janice Jane Bratt on August 27, 1957 in Warsaw, who preceded him in death. Richard then married Linda Lee (Piper) Anderson on June 8, 1968 in Wise, Virginia, who also preceded him in death. Richard graduated from Pierceton High School and then attended Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne for two years. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy as a fire control tech 3rd class, during the Korean Conflict from 1952 – 1955. He was owner and sole employee of Camden Refrigeration and was a farmer. He also worked for John T. Camden Construction Co. for three years in heavy equipment. Richard also worked for three years as a sport car tech. He was a member of the American Legion Post #258, Pierceton, VFW Post #1126, Warsaw and the 40 8. He also was a member of the Model Air Plane Screaming Demons and also Tri-Lake Race Car Club. Richard is survived by his son, Richard Julian (and spouse Debra) Camden II, Aurora, Ohio; his daughter, Sheri Lee (Camden) Cretcher, Leesburg; step-son Brett (and spouse Connie) Anderson, Pierceton; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Gruwall, Warsaw, James Cretcher, Leesburg, Nathanial Anderson, Guam, Samuel Anderson, Riverside, California; six great grandchildren, Karisma Frantz, Warsaw, Laiton Cretcher, Leesburg, Riot Cretcher, Leesburg, Brooklyn Cretcher, New Haven, Braxton Anderson and Jaxon Anderson, He is also survived by his brother, Jack (and spouse Mary Beth) Camden, Warsaw; three sisters, Julia (and spouse Jerry) Frush, Warsaw, Patty Knott, Pierceton and Laurel “Bug” (and spouse Bruce) Lube, Concord, North Carolina. He is also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Lou Camden. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2017 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton with Pastor Mark Fishburn officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #258, Pierceton and VFW Post #1126, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 2:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 and also from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2017 in the Pierceton funeral chapel.
