Mary Rush Manwaring Derry, 94, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 3:07 p.m. in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw, Indiana., surrounded by her Loving family. She was born September 6, 1918, in Mentone, Indiana, to William Ray and Bernice (Goshert) Rush. On June 14, 1941, she was married to Lt. Miles Leroy Manwaring, who died on September 18, 1960. On September 16, 1978, she married Harold A. Derry, who died on July 17, 2004 She was a 1936 graduate of Mentone High School. She retired from a long career in banking in 1983. She was with First National Bank of Warsaw for 22 years and was previously employed by Farmer State Bank of Mentone. Mary was a life-long resident of Kosciusko County. She was a member and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Warsaw where she was active in the Womens Organization and member of the sewing and quilting circles. She had been a teacher in the childrens department. She was a member of the Zerelda Reading Club, P.E.O Sisterhood and Thursday Bridge Group. She served two terms on the United Way Board and served 3,000 volunteer hours with the former Kosciusko Community Hospital Auxiliary. Mary had a wide range of interests including her church, knitting, (especially cancer caps) and other hand work, cards and other games, sports and culture events, but her greatest interest was her large family and keeping up with each and every member. She is survived by two children: Larry (Luanne) Manwaring of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Elaine (Ted) Hite of Lawrence, Kansas; three step children: the late Diane (Frank) Grose and Jim (Nancy) Derry, both of Warsaw, and Christy (Kirk) Matlock of Collierville, Tennessee: five grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; 28 step great grandchildren and five step great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Ridgway of Winona Lake, Indiana and Virginia Hight of Etna Green, Indiana; two brothers, Carl Rush of Beaumont, Texas, and Don Rush of Corunna, Indiana; 18 nieces and nephews; and dear devoted friends, Janet Lasley and Marcia Anderson, both of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lena Hoffer and two brothers, Warrant Officer William Rush and Paul Rush. A service, led by Chaplain Doug West, celebrating Marys life will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 South High Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
