Mary Jane Grossnickle, age 88, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Saturday December 7, 2013 at 4:33 AM in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born November 1, 1925 in North Manchester, IN to Vinson Merrill and Icel Marie (Sutherly) Stukey. She was united in marriage to Paul Grossnickle in North Manchester, IN on September 3, 1944. The office of Dr. Paul Grossnickle, O.D. of Warsaw, IN as a Bookkeeper, employed her. She was a member of the Ladies 18 Hole Leagues at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Rozella Ford Golf Course and Stonehenge Golf Club. In addition, she along with other volunteers knitted hats for cancer patients through the Catherine Peachy Fund, she was a beginning and advanced knitting instructor for the YMCA of Kosciusko County. She volunteered with the Symphony of the Lakes and Mobile Meals. She was best known for her ”famous” Texas sheet cake and her fondness for bridge and square dancing. Survivors include her husband Dr. Paul Grossnickle and sons Dr. Steven (spouse Lori) Grossnickle and Dr. Bruce (spouse Jeanne) Grossnickle all of Warsaw, IN and a sister Barbara McCausland of Tucumcari, NM. Furthermore, grandchildren Brian (spouse Hildy) Grossnickle of Maple City, MI, David Grossnickle of Chicago, IL, Eric (spouse Alanna) Grossnickle of Traverse City MI, Mark Grossnickle of Tucson, AZ, Katie Grossnickle of Maple City, MI, Jamie (spouse Will) Cunningham of Sanford, NC and great-grandchildren Mica and Kati Grossnickle of Maple City, MI survive. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel Warsaw, Indiana.
