Josephine “Jo” Richardson Barton, 92, passed away at 4:28 am, August 23, 2011 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She had been a resident at Warsaw Retired Tigers Apartments since November of 1999. She was born October 26, 1918 in West Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Elza and Lillie (Whitaker) Richardson. On April 13, 1943, she married Max Donald Barton in Camp Blanding, Florida. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1962. Josephine worked for Jo-Mac Glove Company, Warsaw and the County Home as a cook. She then worked as director of the Nutrition Site at Retired Tigers for 6 years, retiring in 1994. She was also a member of Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw. She also made quilts and lap robes for the Pleasant View Bible Church. Survivors include 1 daughter, Lily (and spouse Donald) Miller of Warsaw; 3 sons, Roger (and spouse Sue) Barton of Fort Wayne, Larry (and spouse Lori) Barton of Warsaw and Ted (and spouse Laurie) Barton of Melbourne, Florida; 2 siters, Pearl England, Claypool and Bertha Haywood, Claypool; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren. Josephine was also preceded in death by 2 sister and 2 brothers. Services will be Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:00 am with Dr. Lee Kantenwein officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana. Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral chapel. The family has requested memorial contributions are to be made to Pleasant View Bible Church, 2782 West 200 North, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
