Jay Engle

Jay D. Engle, 67, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Paddock Springs in Warsaw.

Lifetime Warsaw resident, Jay was born on August 4, 1956 to Earl Eugene and Dora Jane (Chinworth) Engle. He graduated from Warsaw Community High School with the class of 1974. He went on to graduate from Purdue University- Fort Wayne in 1986 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science, in 1992 with his bachelor’s degree.

On October 10, 1981 in Mentone, Jay married Joy E. Lucht. And to this union came two boys, Jared and Jason.

He worked for Depuy as a manufacturing engineer for 47 years before his retirement in 2021.

Jay was a member of Pathway Church in Warsaw and aided in many of their church activities. He was a member of the Atwood Lions Club and the Warsaw Rifle & Pistol Club. Jay enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. His most treasured time with his grandchildren or as he affectionately called them, his “Angels.”

He is survived by his two sons, Jared (Stacy) Engle of Estero, FL and Jason (Kathy) Engle of Warsaw; his mother, Dora Jane Engle of Warsaw; his grandchildren: Jessica, Lilly, Sophie and Samantha; and his brother, John (Amy) Engle of Evansville, IN.

Jay was preceded in death by his wife Joy and his father.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastor Jarod Osborne officiating.

Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
