James E. Busz, 74 of Pierceton, Indiana, passed away at 12:15 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in his residence. On May 2, 1939, he was born in Pierceton to Thurman and Nellie (Birtwhistle) Busz. He was united in marriage to Janice Kay Staley on May 6, 1960 in Columbia City, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2012. A lifetime resident of Pierceton, James had worked for Dana/Weatherhead, Syracuse, Indiana for 30 years as a quality inspector. He served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1960, with an honorable discharge. He attended the Pierceton Presbyterian Church, Pierceton American Legion Post #258, Pierceton Masonic Lodge F AM #377, Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, and Mizpah Shrine Fort Wayne. He served as Tyler for the Masonic Lodge for several years. James is survived by three sons, Jeff (and spouse Cindy) Busz, Warsaw, James (and spouse Kathy) Busz, Columbia City and Joseph (and spouse Krista) Busz, North Manchester; two sisters, Lois Sleighter and Ada Finken both of Pierceton and seven grandchildren, Jason, Andrew, Mariah, Ryan, Chas, Kaleb and Logan. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Billy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton with military honors by American Legion Post #258, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in the funeral chapel in Warsaw with a Masonic Service by Pierceton Masonic Lodge #377 at 7:30 pm on Tuesday Evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 863765, Orlando, Florida 32886-3765.
