Gerald Owens

April 21, 1951 — February 22, 2025

Gerald D. “Doug” Owens, 73, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw.

Doug was born in Warsaw, Indiana at the old McDonald Hospital on April 21, 1951 to Lindsey and Earcell (Ousley) Owens. He graduated from Silver Lake High School.

He was a skilled carpenter and was self-employed, serving many around his hometown of Pierceton and local cities. Doug was the proud father of his only son, Jared. He loved traveling the country, watching him play sports as he was growing up.

Being outdoors in his younger years, alone or with his family, brought him peace as he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. After his retirement, he took on a great interest in building hot rods. He enjoyed being around various car clubs with his hot rod.

Doug treasured his two grandchildren and the special time spent with them and his son.

He is dearly missed by his son, Jared Owens; his two grandchildren, Faris and Maeryn; and sisters, Carol Morford of Columbia City and Nody George of Warsaw.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Charlene Cabeen.

Per his request, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
