Emma Jean Layne Perkins Miller

Emma Jean Layne Perkins Miller, 83 of Burket, Indiana passed away at 5:03 am Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. On January 19, 1930, She was born in Alpharetta, Kentucky to William Taylor and Martha (Hale) Layne. She married Ralph Perkins on March 1, 1946 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky whom preceded her in death on April 1, 1984. She then married Melvin Miller on November 7, 1987 in Burket, Indiana whom preceded her in death on September 18, 2009. Emma Jean was a homemaker. She is survived by three sons, Ralph (and spouse Kathy) Perkins, Warsaw, John (and spouse Rhonda) Perkins, Warsaw and Kevin (and spouse Kelli) Perkins, Warsaw; four daughters, Toni (and spouse Don) Caudill, Warsaw, Jackie (and spouse John) Driscoll, Warsaw, Donna Perkins, Burket and Lisa Chaplin, Burket; five step daughters, Anna Jean Hurd, Mentone, Arlene (and spouse Larry) Sroufe, Larwill, Gloria (and spouse Ron) Dafforn, Columbia City, Gale (and spouse Larry) Burkhart, Warsaw and Saundra (and spouse Jack) Ott, Estero, Florida; three step sons, Michael Miller (Pauline Haynes), Wabash, Arthur Miller (Linda Colter), Columbia City and Rich (and spouse Kristy) Miller, South Whitley; one sister, Georgia Layne, Manton, Kentucky; one brother, Burt Layne, Betsy Lane, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a step son, Melvin Miller Jr., two grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, March 8, 2013 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the funeral chapel.
