Elnora Sarah Cox, age 96, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 6:40 AM in Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was born September 25, 1914 in Washington Township, Noble County, IN to Gale and Luretta (Stump) Robbins. Elnora was a lifetime Kosciusko County, IN resident. In Alexandria, VA on May 28, 1941, she was united in marriage to Don M. Cox who preceded her December 24, 1997. She was an Elementary School Teacher for Claypool, Pierceton, Franklin Township and Silver Lake Schools and a substitute Teacher for East Wayne School (Jefferson School). She was then employed by the Kosciusko County Auditor’s Office, the Kosciusko County License Branch and retired from Lake City Bank Warsaw, IN in 1979. Elnora was a 90 year member of the North Winona Church of the Brethren where she served over 30 years as Church Secretary, Ladies Aid Treasurer and Member, Sunday School Teacher and founder of the Junior Church. An active member of the community, her social affiliations include: Girl Scout troop leader for 5 years; 4-H leader for 30 years; Chairman – Blood Bank Volunteers – American Red Cross; Volunteer – Kosciusko County Historical Society Jail Museum; Speaker for various schools presenting topics about Native American life; Kosciusko County Mobile Meals volunteer. Education: Elnora was a graduate of Pierceton High School and she received her 2 year Normal Teaching Certificate from Manchester College. Survivors: 1 Daughter: Pat Jernigan – Fort Wayne, Indiana 1 Son: Michael (spouse Pat) Cox – Warsaw, Indiana 1 Brother: Scott (spouse Ellen) Robbins – Muncie, Indiana 4 Grandchildren: Marc (spouse Wendy) Jernigan – Ft. Wayne, Indiana Eric (spouse Liz) Cox – Kelseyville, California Brian (spouse Dawn) Butler – Greenfield, Indiana Brad (spouse Bobbie) Butler – Burkett, Indiana 10 Great-Grandchildren Elnora was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Roswell Robbins. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw, Indiana. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana. Pastor Mike Smith will officiate.
