Alfred James Kennedy, 83 of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Lamplight Inn Assisted Living of Fort Wayne. He was born on July 23, 1930 in Wappingers Falls, New York. He married Renee Goldstein and cared for her lovingly for 26 years before her death. Al was a resident of Wappingers Falls, New York until moving to Fort Wayne in 2000. Alfred worked as a heavy machine operator, building roads for the State of New York. He so proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951-1953, and would say no more about it than he lost his best buddies on either side of him. He was of the Catholic faith and for years volunteered at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, until Alzheimers stole his words and sense of direction. When most all his memory was gone, he could still sing the Marine Corp Battle Hymn. Alfred is survived by five stepchildren, Dr. Glenn L. Goldstein, Fort Wayne; Barry Goldstein, Nashville, Tennessee; Fred Goldstein, Pine Bush, New York; Joy Goldstein Glas, Coram, New York and Dale Goldstein, Manhattan, New York. We would all like to thank the so loving staff of Lamplight Inn who took such great care of him during his failing years. There is no visitation or services planned. Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
